Welcome to Northminster Montessori Preschool & Kindergarten
of Pearl River and Slidell LA.

For seventeen years, Northminster Montessori has been providing a Montessori
based education for preschoolers in the Slidell, Pearl River, and Picayune area.
Based on principles developed by Maria Montessori in 1907, our program seeks
to "draw out" the potential of each child. The aim is not to "drill in" information
but to awaken the joy of learning and exploration that we believe is already
within each child.

Our program runs daily, Monday through Friday, with half day (8:30-11:30) or
full day (8:30-2:30) programs available. Additionally, we have before-care and
after-care available beginning at 7 a.m. - 8:30 and 2:30 - 6 p.m. Currently we
have classes for younger two year olds, 2-3 year olds, a 3-4 year old class, and a
4-6 class which includes our kindergarten program.

We encourage interested parents to visit the school and see a class in session, or
bring your child for a one hour visit in one of the classes. Please phone ahead to
make arrangements for a visit and observation.

Northminster Montessori is accredited by the Louisiana Department of
Education and the Louisiana Montessori Association. In addition, it is a Class B
child care facility which follows the schedule of the St. Tammany Public Schools.
Each lead teacher (directress) has completed Montessori training at the
Montessori World Education Institute, an educational program approved by the
Louisiana Department of Education.

The Northminster Montessori Preschool and Kindergarten is a not-for-profit program
run by a volunteer Preschool Committee approved by the Church Session. The
program is open to all children who are 2 years old or older regardless of race, creed,
color, or sex. The school strives to maintain a balance in the classrooms in regard to
age and sex and reserves the right to decline admission or continuing enrollment to
any child.
